Come prepared for a faster NFA appointment.

Use this checklist before booking so we can spend your appointment on the transfer, paperwork, and next steps instead of account setup.

    Decide how you plan to register

    Individual filings are usually simpler, but you will be the only legal owner. Trust filings can include multiple legal owners, but they may take longer and require more paperwork.

    A Single Shot Trust starts with only you and requires amendment paperwork after approval. A full trust can include multiple trustees at filing and can hold multiple items under the same legal entity.

    Create your Silencer Shop account

    Register your Silencer Shop account and complete all required registration information. Fingerprints must be completed in store at the kiosk, and we can assist with your photo if needed.

    Save the email address and password tied to the account so you have them ready for your appointment.

    Create your ATF eForms account

    Register an ATF eForms account and make sure the information is a one-to-one match with your Silencer Shop account.

    Save your username, password, and PIN. Your username will be emailed to you by the ATF, and you will need your PIN during certification.

    Make a plan for fingerprints

    If you purchase an NFA item through us, we can recover your fingerprint file for use with related forms.

    Otherwise, you will need a completed set of fingerprint cards for each responsible party.

    Book your appointment

    Bring your ATF eForms login information, the firearm or item details, and any required documents if you are filing as a trust.

    All trustees do not need to attend, but demographic information for each trustee will be required.

    Certify and follow up

    During your appointment, we will review your information, complete the required certification steps, and explain what to expect while your paperwork is pending.

    After submission, watch your email for ATF updates and contact us if anything looks incorrect or requires follow-up.
